Brazil Bar Assoc Rejects Recommendation To Impeach Lula

The Brazilian Bar Association's board of directors on Monday rejected a report that recommended Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva be impeached.
The board voted 25-7 to reject the special subcommittee's report, which recommended Lula's impeachment as part of a corruption scandal that has plagued his administration.
The original subcommittee report said Lula was aware of kickback and bribery schemes in his administration but failed to stop them. The association's full board said there wasn't enough evidence to seek impeachment.
The board did vote to turn over the report and related materials to federal prosecutors and urged the prosecutors to continue the corruption investigation.
