Saudi Arabian authorities have released to the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh 19 Filipinos earlier arrested for attending a Halloween party in the capital, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday.
The Filipinos, all migrant workers, were turned over to the custody of Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Adnan Alonto at 6:20 p.m. Manila time.
They were arrested during a raid at a Halloween party in Riyadh on Friday.
Police raided the party after someone reportedly complained of the loud noise, leading to the arrest of some attendees.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III earlier said the arrested Filipinos were merely attending the party and were not the organizers.
