Brazil reopens euro bond issue with 250 mln euros
Brazil's central bank said on Wednesday it had reopened a euro-denominated bond by issuing a further 250 million euros worth of bonds and bringing the total amount sold to 1 billion euros.
The bonds were sold on Wednesday at a price of 101.875 percent of face value and carried an annual coupon of 8.5 percent, with a yield of 8.17 percent -- lower than in the original bond offering.
The spread was 439 basis points above comparable German Bunds, which are German government bonds.Brazil initially tapped international debt markets for a larger-than-expected 750 million euros of the issue, which matures in 2012, on Sept. 9 amid strong investor demand.
That was Brazil's first euro debt sale in 30 months.At the time of the issue, it yielded 8.7 percent and the spread was 477 basis points. The bond was priced at 98.881 percent of face value.
