Brazil Nov. trade surplus rises to $2.08 billion
Brazil posted a trade surplus of $2.08 billion in November, up from $1.72 billion in the same month a year earlier, the government said on Wednesday.
Exports in South America's largest economy reached $8.16 billion in November, while imports reached $6.08 billion.Brazil's trade surplus has powered to record highs this year thanks to surging exports of key commodities like soy and steel.
Accumulated exports from January to November reached $87.28 billion, up from $66.34 billion in the same period of 2003, bringing the year-to-date trade surplus to $30.2 billion. Accumulated imports reached $57.08 billion, up from $44.29 billion last year.
Imports in November hit their highest level for any month this year this year -- $6.08 billion -- as strong growth pushed domestic consumption.
